What are your birthday traditions?
We have a special plate to serve dinner on (It's called the "celebrate Plate" from PChef) and it comes with a log to log who got to use that plate and for what occasion. I think it's really neat and a nice momento

I like Samara's idea of taking a photo of the baby at the exact hour they were born....as long as it coincides with my sleep schedule!
Like the pp's, I let the kids choose whatever they want me to make for their birthday dinner. I do something similar to the memory book. I leave a note that I've written "Dear Ethan - Happy 8th birthday. In the last year you have lost 3 teeth, gained 2" in height, learned to spell better than your mom and moved to right wing position in soccer" (or something similar). I fold the note as tiny as I can and hide it somewhere in the bedroom and then the respective child can spend a bit of time searching for it. I usually attach a string and loop it all over the room and through toys. Makes it harder, the older they get. Then I always make the snack of choice and bring it to school to share with friends. We have a regular family/friend party and every couple of years, we have a big birthday bash with just the kid's friends. Obviously, the traditions are catered to the appropriate age. But most importantly, there must be cake. The kids chose the kind/style, but we must always eat cake LOL

I am definitely going to do the photo thing... It just gives me another excuse to take Josiah's picture. LOL I love the note idea too...
I think traditions are great and have always wanted to do fun things for holidays and birthdays with my child/(children(. I want to create wonderful memories for him... and any others I may have.
